TikTok Video Downloader for Mac

Paste a TikTok link, keep the whole video or only the part you need, and export an MP4 to your Mac. No browser extension, no upload to someone else’s server.

Free plan · 10 clips/month · Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or newer)

The short answer

Free: in the TikTok phone app, tap Share → Save video, then AirDrop the file from your phone to your Mac. The saved video carries TikTok’s watermark with the creator’s username. If Save video is missing, the creator has turned downloads off.

On the Mac itself: copy the TikTok link, paste it into a desktop app such as Klipprr, and export an MP4. You can export the whole video or mark an In and Out point and export only that part, which TikTok’s own button cannot do.

Klipprr needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer). The free plan exports up to 720p with a Klipprr watermark.

Every way to save a TikTok on a Mac, compared

Each method trades something: the watermark, your video quality, your privacy, or your time. The free option is the right one more often than tool makers like to admit.

Online TikTok saver sites

Paste a link, get a file. Your request goes through their server, the pages are heavy with ads, and the file is often compressed again. These sites appear and disappear constantly.

Browser extensions

A downloader extension usually asks to read your data on tiktok.com or on every site. That is a lot of access to hand an anonymous developer for a download button.

How to download a TikTok video on Mac with Klipprr

  1. 1

    Copy the TikTok link

In the TikTok app, tap Share → Copy link and send it to your Mac with AirDrop or Universal Clipboard. On a Mac browser, copy the address from the address bar. Links look like tiktok.com/@username/video/123…

  2. 2

    Paste it into Klipprr

Open Klipprr and paste the link. TikTok links take a little longer to load than YouTube or Instagram before the preview appears; nothing is saved to your drive yet.

    Get Klipprr →
  3. 3

    Keep it all, or trim

Want the whole TikTok? Go straight to export. Want one moment? Set an In point and an Out point on the timeline and only that range is exported.

  4. 4

    Export an MP4

Click Export and the MP4 lands in your chosen folder. Processing happens on your Mac, not on a server. In our test on an M3 Pro Mac, a 55-second TikTok exported in 24 seconds on the Pro plan and 25 seconds on the free plan.

What people save TikToks for

Creators backing up their own videos

Keep a copy of everything you posted, including videos recorded straight into the app that never touched your camera roll.

Editors and social media managers

Pull a reference or a client's own TikTok into Premiere, Final Cut or DaVinci Resolve as a plain MP4.

Researchers, journalists and teachers

Archive a video that documents a trend or an event before it is deleted or the account goes private.

Anyone cutting one moment

Keep the five seconds that matter instead of a minute of video, without opening an editor.

What no TikTok downloader can do

  • Recover a deleted video. Once a TikTok is removed or the account goes private, its link stops working for every tool. Save what matters when you find it.
  • Beat TikTok’s own compression. TikTok re-encodes every upload. The best any tool can give you is the version TikTok stores, not the creator’s original file.
  • Give you the right to repost it. A TikTok belongs to the person who made it. Saving it for yourself is one thing; publishing it is another and needs the creator’s permission or another lawful basis such as commentary or review. Credit the creator either way.

Common questions

How do I download a TikTok video on a Mac?

Two ways. Free: tap Share → Save video in the TikTok phone app, then AirDrop the file to your Mac; it carries TikTok's watermark. On the Mac itself: paste the video link into a desktop app such as Klipprr and export an MP4, optionally trimmed to just the part you need.

Why is there no Save video option on some TikToks?

The creator has turned downloads off. TikTok lets creators disable downloads for their account under Settings and privacy → Privacy → Downloads, and for individual posts. Respect that choice unless you have the creator's permission or another lawful reason to keep a copy.

Can I save only part of a TikTok?

Not with TikTok's own button, which always saves the whole video. In Klipprr you set an In point and an Out point on the timeline and export only that range.

Does Klipprr work with TikTok links from the app?

Yes. Copy the link from the Share menu in the TikTok app or from your browser's address bar and paste it into Klipprr. TikTok links take a little longer to load than YouTube or Instagram links before the preview appears.

Is it free?

Yes. The free plan gives you 10 clips a month at up to 720p, with a Klipprr watermark. Paid plans remove the watermark and raise the quality ceiling; see the pricing section for details.

Does it work on Windows or Intel Macs?

No. Klipprr is a native macOS app for Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or newer). On other computers, use TikTok's own Save video option or a command-line tool such as yt-dlp.

Keep the TikToks that matter.
