About Klipprr

Klipprr is a native macOS app for pulling exact segments out of long videos. You paste a URL from YouTube, Twitch, Instagram or X — or open a file already on your Mac — mark the moments you want on a timeline, and export them all in one pass. The video is processed on your own machine; nothing is uploaded and nothing is queued on a server.

It exists because the alternatives all have the same shape of problem. yt-dlp is excellent and free, but it downloads the entire file before you can cut anything, and every clip is a terminal command plus an ffmpeg step. Online clippers run your video through someone else’s server and hand it back re-encoded, usually capped at 720p. Screen recording captures your interface along with the video. QuickTime cannot open a URL at all.

Who builds it

My name is Frederik Hypky. I build and maintain Klipprr on my own, from Slovakia. There is no team behind that “we” you see in the app’s copy — it is one person, and support emails come back from me.

The company behind it is Lextor s.r.o., registered in Trnava, Slovakia. That is the entity on your invoice.

How it makes money

A free plan gives you 10 clips a month at up to 720p with a watermark, permanently and with no card required. Pro is $12 a month and removes the watermark, raises the ceiling to 4K and gives you 120 clips a month. Max is $39 a month for 8K and 500 clips. That is the whole business model: no ads, no bundled software, no selling data, no upsells inside the app.

What it deliberately does not do

• It does not run on Intel Macs. The export pipeline uses Apple Silicon’s hardware encoder.
• It does not support TikTok.
• It is not a video editor. No transitions, no colour grading, no multi-track timeline.
• It is not a bulk archiver. If you want an entire eight-hour VOD, yt-dlp is the better tool and I will tell you so.
• There is no Windows build yet, and no date for one.

Writing

I write the guides on the blog myself, including the ones that recommend a competitor. If something there is wrong, outdated or unfair to another tool, tell me and I will fix it.
